Lowland League Splits Into East And West For Historic 2026/27 Season
The Scottish Lowland Football League has confirmed a new two-division structure for 2026/27, with 17 clubs in the East and 17 in the West competing in separate leagues.
The Scottish Lowland Football League has undergone its biggest structural change since formation, splitting into two regional divisions for the 2026/27 season.
Lowland League East will feature 17 clubs including Bonnyrigg Rose, Cowdenbeath, East Stirlingshire and Brechin City, while Lowland League West welcomes newly promoted sides alongside established clubs including Clydebank, Pollok and Albion Rovers.
The restructure follows years of discussion about travel distances and fixture congestion, with clubs in the south-west of Scotland previously facing long midweek journeys to the east coast and vice versa.
Both divisions will operate as Tier 5 of the Scottish football pyramid, sitting directly below SPFL League Two and above the regional leagues.
